Thanks to Brian for showing me this website. Although I’m sure this is privately maintained, it’s got a pretty large list of sexual offenders. Search by name or by location. The map is a mashup with clickable pinpoints. Click one, and you’ll get a description of the offender, including a photo, registered address, and the charge of the assault.

I looked over the neighborhood where I grew up, where I went to school, and where I live now. I didn’t find anyone I know, and for good reason: I don’t associate with the type of people who would end up on this list, but I was shocked to see a few dots on the map closer to where I lived than I thought.

Maybe I shouldn’t be laughing at the assholes who show up on this list. Every single one of them is responsible for fucking up the life of someone who didn’t deserve it. Putting that aside, I laugh at these guys (and a few girls) because they’re losers and they’ll receive no dignity from me.
