Yes, you read this correctly. After careful consideration, I’ve decided I’m taking on a nemisis. I’ve been thinking about this for a while…and I had yet to find a nemisis, but I’ve found the perfect one. HotEnough.org is now the sworn enemy of the Average White Guy. I’m not dating; I’m happily engaged (and should be married by now - ask Natalie, she’ll tell you), and I’m not listed on, nor am I cruising the singles sites, so let’s not ask those kinds of questions.

The Average White Guy should stand up for other Average folks though. It’s my duty. HotEnough.org is a dating site whereby the registered, paying members of their site vote on a picture of a new registrant. The new registrant must score an 8 out of 10 or better to gain acceptance. Once accepted, they get to enjoy the benefits of chatting with other registered members and chosing who’s in and who’s out, all for a nominal fee of $9.95 per month. Their friggin’ slogan is “Not for the average single.” How perfect of a nemisis is this?

While I don’t argue with the concept; it’s actually a pretty nifty idea, I do argue with the segregation factor. I’m famous for using metaphor to drive my points home, but I can’t come up with one. This would be one! “It’s like saying I’m not attractive enough to use your website.” I would say something like that to defend a different point…weird.

So readers, what are we to do? Perhaps a rogue, grassroots movement, whereby we submit ugly pictures enough to flood the system, rendering it useless? Do we send in attractive photos until we’ve gained membership…giving us the option to vote 1’s across the board for would be members? How about a up the gut, stick it in their face approach? We could cause problems for the site and its members with abusive messages, hacking, etc… The answer is an emphatic “NO” on both. I’ll tell you why.

You can’t take down a nemisis. That’s the essence of nemisisisism. Can Spiderman take down his nemisis? No. How about Superman? Lex Luther is walking freely as we speak. All I can do is wait….wait for them to do an injustice and counter with an equal but opposite measure. That’s how life between nemises works. If you’re going to do something though, make sure you let me know. You can use this as a forum, a staging ground for your wicket anti-HotEnough.org campaigns. Just keep us all posted.

Imagine the nerve of a website whose sole purpose is elitism and selective inclusion. They had a name for people like this back in the ’30’s and ’40’s…they were called Nazis.

Free Huey!
