So much crap, so little time.

I’m not a genius or anything when it comes to Google’s Adsense, but I’ve followed all the experts’ advice about how to “maximize my revenue potential”. I seem to be getting relevant ads when they show up, but yet, in the 18+ months I’ve been running adsense on my two sites (this one, anc www.cmsportal.net), I’ve managed to earn 78 clicks, which for me equates to $33.78. In 18 months, I’ve made less than $34. That comes out to be about one click every four months, and about $1.78/per month in “maximized revenue potential”.
I guess my question is, does ANYONE know what the hell I’m doing wrong? I’ll grant you that my traffic figures aren’t spectacular, but from everything I’ve read, my Adsense numbers aren’t porportionate to the traffic I’m getting. I must be doing something wrong.
*Please don’t start clicking the ads on this page, just because I’m complaining about how poorly my Adsense campaigns are doing; Google would only look on that as a bad thing*
I have a couple of domains for sale. One I bought with the intention of developing some content for, and then selling it to a startup or organization or something. It’s called www.mycredit.cc. The other is www.justwantfucked.com, which I had no intention of doing anything with but selling. I realized quickly that I wasn’t going to do anything with mycredit, so I promptly added it to my “for sale” list. I listed them both on Sedo (www.sedo.com). If you clicked on either link to my two sites, you saw that it’s just a parked page with ads on it. Well guess what, in the 13 months I’ve earned better than $160, which is a little more than $10/month. It’s not great, but it’s 5x more money than I’ve earned with Google’s Adsense. And, Sedo is only hosting the ads there until I sell the domain(s), so this money is just a litte bit of a bonus. Once every three months, I get paid enough from Sedo to pay a hosting bill, which is ok with me.
So what’s my problem? Where am I going wrong? Should I just pound the pavement (which should be in my Buzzwords post) a bit and try to spike my traffic figures? ARHG!!! Help The Average White Guy!

You know, until today, I never even knew you had ads on your site. I use NoScript for Firefox, and I don’t allow anything from googlesyndication.com to run scripts, and I never added this site to be allowed to run scripts, and unless both are enabled, the ads just aren’t there. I am certainly somewhat unique among those that I talk to everyday, but I doubt I’m all that unique in blocking/disallowing javascript content. Perhaps that is one problem…I don’t know - what do your logs/tracking say? If you aren’t tracking “No Javascript” type of users, I suggest adding something and taking a look at that statistic. Other than that, though, I have no idea. I break the mold in that I *very* rarely click on ads, no matter where they are, what they say, or what they are for. Like I said, I’m unique.
Hey, thanks for the comment Dave.
If you’re blocking scripts, you’re blocking my tracking script too
There’s no way to tell how many people visit without JavaScript.
Having said that, script blockers are common to every website. But I still hear people’s figures, which don’t match mine. I’ve gotta be doing something wrong.
Traffic is the key. Not knowing your daily hits, I can’t say whether $34 in a year it’s good or bad. You might try moving your ads over your banner. You can also put ads down the side, which increase the chances of a click. You could also try blending them more. Get rid of the slight bar around them and make them seem more integrated into your page.
Alternatively, put some between posts.
Thanks for the advide folks. I’ve taken some of your suggestions into effect, but I’ve still got a little work to do as it applies to moving the ad into the content. I’ve wanted to, but I need to change the settings on my posts so that I’m only ever showning three (at most) ad blocks per page, as is mandated by google. I’ll fiddle with it when I get some time. Thanks again
