You smell that? Do you smell that? LILACS, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of LILACS in the morning.
You see posts here or there every day about the top 5 this and that. As Average and I discussed yesterday, Digg is a digital tome on the top 5 ways to make your MySQL queries not only work more efficiently, but also make toast. Hell, I have written down as a note to myself here on my desk to do a post on my Top 5 Movies (I’ll save that for another day, but I will warn you Sound of Music is in there…).
As I was driving into work today with my carpool punk (he didn’t like schmuck, so I’ll see if this also dingles his berries), I commented on some of my favorite smells. That’s right folks. What makes my ol’ sniffer happier than a geek at CES?
My top 5 (in order best to not quite as best…)
1. Lilacs. I love me some lilacs. They’re only around a couple weeks in the spring at most, but I enjoy every second of it. Why you ask? I think it stems from them being all over as I was young, but I can’t say for sure.
2. Frying Bacon. Uh, duh… No kidding. If there’s a pheromone in bacon, someone should bottle it and sell it at Macy’s. Otherwise unattractive women would be irresistible. Even the new skeletonized Jenna Jameson would become edible once again.
3. Stipper Vanilla Scent. What perfume is it? I dunno. Don’t care. You can call it FART for all I care. But you know you love it. Just as I do… Coupled with that glitter dust, man… Well you know. Towel time…
4. Hawaiian Tropic Scent. That beachy, tropical, coconutty thingy. Turns even the coldest day into a warm… Well it doesn’t, but man it’s tasty for the nose.
5. Generic Meat Grilling Scent. Yup… Different from bacon by leaps and bounds, yet just as appealing. Picture sizzling filet at Ruth’s Chris on nuclear plate. Wait for it…. Yup. That smell… *drool*
I have a few honorable mentions, but I’ll leave the commenting and additional scents up to you guys!
Punk?!?!…I’ll take it!
How aboot burnt rubber from your favorite muscle car or riced-out Hyundai?
…and don’t forget “the air mass around a thumping subwoofer playing the ‘Brown Note’ smell”, it always makes me a little teary-eyed.
