So much crap, so little time.

It’s bullshit. I’ll back this up in a minute, but I didn’t want you to get confused: I think the proposed changes to the immigration laws are corn-fed bullshit. Period.
The new legislation would essentially put illegals on a merit-based system, rather than a polar scenario wherein they are either legal or not legal. The new plan is supposed to bring the 12 million (yes, TWELVE MILLION) illegal immigrants in to the national spotlight instead of hiding in the shadows.
Under the proposed bill, illegal immigrants who immigrated prior to January 1, 2007 are to be fined $5,000 and deported. They’re given amnesty and once the fine is paid, the would-be immigrant applies legally for citizenship. They are then permitted to bring their nuclear family (mom, dad, brothers, and sisters, but not aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc…) We’ll get back to this in a minute. According to the plan, another 18,000 border patrol agents would be commissioned to patrol the existing, and 200 miles of new fencing separating America from Mexico. To assist the patrol, hundreds of camera towers will be added to the border including infrared devices.
Although it’s not an official bill as of yet, it’s damn close to being passed. The Senate drew this bill up and expect the House of Representatives to approve it in the near future. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes the bill is “not liberal enough” and needs to be redrafted before its submission to the House for review. Republican Senators John McCain and Arlen Spector - two of the most downright liberal republicans support the bill. Go figure. Their support for this incarnation proves one thing, and one thing only: The middle of the political spectrum has moved left.
I supposed on the surface the bill doesn’t sound terrible. New patrols, better fencelines, digital technology, fines, and deportation. You’d assume this is a good thing if you’re conservative. Well, you wouldn’t be a good conservative if you didn’t stop to ask yourself why the chane was happening in the first place. I’m glad you asked.
Most conservatives dislike the whole immigration concept. I don’t mind immigration. European immigration made this country what it is today (sorry Native Americans, really I am). Europeans immigrated legally, and went through the hell that is citizenship. I want this to continue. I think U.S. Citizenship is a privilege and not a right. You should have to earn it. It shouldn’t be as easy being a ‘fessed up illegal alien. There should be no amnesty.
The bottom line is that immigrating to America illegally is a crime. These criminals should be locked up and tried like criminals. There should be no extenuating circumstances. There should be no forgiveness. There should be no special treatments. The convicted illegal alien should be sentenced to 25 years in prison. During his sentencing, the alien has the option to apply for citizenship. Short of extenuating circumstances, the alien emerges from prison as a U.S. Citizen….sorta like a caterpillar to a butterfly, eh?
The proposed bill changes this, and I’m surprised it’s disputed the way it is… Liberals like Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi think the bill calls for ‘undue limitations’ on family immigration. Harry, what the fuck? If this immigrant commits a crime on US soil, and is tried and convicted in our courts, and sentenced to prison, will his family also share THAT fate? Probably not, but if you’re granting amnesty to the illegals AND their families, then shouldn’t they partake in EVERYTHING the illegal immigrant is given? Seems logical to me, no?
What this bill basically does is drive the wedge between the truly conservative and the truly liberal, despite what party they belong to, right John McCain? Right Arlen Spector? President Bush favors the bill because “…it’s the best bill both parties will agree on”, and it adds to his legacy. The conservatives detest the bill, because it doesn’t do anything to stop illegal immigration. The liberals don’t think it’s fair to the illegal immigrants. That is of course the liberal mentality: We need more legislation. In most cases - including this one - we don’t need more legislation; we need to enforce the GOOD legislation we already have. Liberals will always argue that what they’re doing would be effective, if the conservatives would just let them do enough of it.
This bill does nothing but give the illegal aliens the option the stay in America legally. I wonder why the democrats would support this… Let’s think: Could it be that 12,000,000 illegal immigrants would have obtained the right to vote? Could the democrats used those 12,000,000 votes?

Yeah.. I’m on visa and staying here legally, paying crapora load of tax every year, I am trying to do the best I can to stay legal. But story like this just makes me want to give up and be illegal.
option 1 : Paying $30,000 tax a year and when your visa is out = getta fuck out
option 2 : become illegal and pay $5,000 = hello united states your a citizen today
Don’t you just want to grab the option 2?
Hey, thanks for the comment. I completely agree with you, and I should post an addendum to this post about just how unfair it is to those of you immigrants who did it legally.
To you sir, I applaud your efforts, and I am more than happy to share this land with you.
