This is classic. It’s a tight race in the Minnesota senatorial race. Norm Coleman leads perpetual and lifelong cornhole Al Franken by what has been (suspiciously) reduced to a mere 206 votes, pending an official recount. Before I give up the latest news and my associate opinion, let’s review, shall we?

Franken ended election night Nov, 4 2008 trailing by 750+ votes. This kicks off an automatic recount by state law in Minnesota. Ok, I got no problems there if that’s the law. The funny thing is, they started rechecking counts in a bunch of voting precints - something like 4000 in the state of Minnesota. There were errors reported in *3* precints (apparently the three heaviest democratic-voting precints in the state). Ironically, ALL of the errors were in favor of the democrat. In fact, if you’re doing the math with me, 750 - 206 votes = 544 votes which have miraculously swung for Franken (the perpetual cornhole). Of the 544, 69 or so were taken away from republican incumbent Coleman. Again, let’s do the math: 544 - 69 = 475. That is 475 votes which were counted when the “checking” was done (all from the three precints I mentioned before), ALL for Franken, none for Coleman. Isn’t that odd?? Not a SINGLE vote was erroneously cast for Coleman. So it’s either fraudulent or democrat voters are INCREDIBLY STUPID! I could see it going either way, but I am inclined to lean towards the former as opposed to the latter. I lean towards fraud because the 475 votes which were found for Franken were mysteriously found in a poll worker’s car. Wow! I mean WOOOW!!! How stupid do you people think we are?

Also, let’s not forget that in the three precints where these votes were discovered (again reminding you ALL for Franken), ACORN had registered 43,000 voters. ACORN, the voter registration fraud people?? Ah yes, now you remember. I’ve had the argument with a liberal friend of mine who suggests that registration fraud isn’t the same thing as voter fraud. I’ll agree to that, being that I am a highly technical person. But I’ll have to admit that it’s awful hard to commit voter fraud without registration fraud. Sure, it can be done, but having a crap load of fraudulent registrations makes it that much easier, don’t you think, Kev?

Ok, so to the news of the day, and this is where I have to say I’m REALLY disappointed. I’ll be further disappointed if the judge allows this to happen. You can read the full story here: Franken seeks access to rejected absentee data, My Way News, but the excerpt I’d like to focus on is:

“We are not suing to have these in the count,” said Franken’s lead attorney, Marc Elias. “We are simply looking for the data so that we can identify people who were legal and lawful voters to ensure their ballots are counted.”

Now, correct me if I’m wrong here people, but aren’t ballots cast anonymously, even the absentee ballots? Who’s right is it to know who cast the ballot but the person who actually CAST the ballot? Nobody’s. That’s why we do ballot voting the way that we do. It’s the cornerstone of our election system.

I think our vote casting system sucks. In the industry I work in, I know it can be done. We’ve made ATM machines virtually failsafe. We dispense narcotic drugs in hospitals via a touchscreen system. Hell, we can even order food via touchscreen - McDonald’s cashiers can even do it!! It can be safeguarded. It can be protected. It can also be implemented in such a way that every vote is counted (once), and can’t be tampered with. Guess what? There has existed secure network technology for going on 30 years, and it gets better every day.

Allow the conspiracy theorist in me to speak for a moment. The Average White Guy FIRMLY believes the reason they will NOT get with the 21st century is because tamper-proof electronic voting systems make it so you can’t pull the crap that the Big Fat Election Thief is pulling in Minnesota, or Gore tried in Florida in 2000. I FIRMLY believe that. I’ve heard all the excuses, but folks, I’m in the industry. I know what’s within our reach. I know what is possible and what is not. It could be done, but it won’t be because tamper-proof voting systems are exactly that: tamper-proof.

I’d bet dollars to donuts that Franken finds the measley 207 votes (or fewer if you’re actually taking them Coleman, remember I said that) he needs to pull off the heist of the senate seat.

Is a government worth preserving when it lies to the people? Its become a dangerous country when you cannot trust anyone. When you cannot tell the truth. I say let justice be done, though the heavens fall!”
